Sony World Photography Awards

I am really happy that this ongoing project was recognized as a finalist in the portrait category in this year's Sony World Photography Awards. It is very nice to see it included in a group of projects that I respect. This work is part of an ongoing portrait project documenting the post-maiden generation in Ukraine. It was shot will working on another ongoing project I have been working on for the past 3 years, documenting life inside state run boarding schools and orphanages for handicapped children in Ukraine. The children at this school are very lucky to be in the care of an excellent director who has built a loving home for them. It stands out in contrast against some of the horrific conditions I have seen in other locations.
